What's the difference between bronze and silicon bronze stars?
Tetraxis Stars and Six-Axis Star by John M. Kostick

Both metal alloys are types of brazing rod, which is to say welding material.  Bronze is a more yellow hue, whereas silicon bronze is more russet.  Silicon bronze is a bit springier, which enables making the stars a little longer, a more slender proportioning.  There are some differences in the way the two metals melt, which makes for a fairly subtle aesthetic difference in the shape of the beads that form at the tips.  It mostly gets down to a matter of personal preference.
